Day 64 of M-Net’s BIG BROTHER REVOLUTION saw the housemates immerse themselves
in new characters presented to them as part of this week’s task – and boy are
they taking it seriously!
After a bonding session on Monday evening, Edward felt the irresistible
pull of a prank and headed down to the bathroom to collect all the housemates’
toothpaste tubes. He took them to the kitchen and added all sorts of vile
ingredients to the toothpaste, including vinegar. He then lined up three eggs
on top of the garden door before celebrating with a cigarette, jumping back
through the kitchen window to go to bed. Alas, when the housemates woke up they
were unusually cautious and spotted the eggs before heading out for their
morning exercise session, with Edward denying he was behind the
pranks.
This week’s task sees the housemates playing characters and dressing up as part
of the Blues Revolution. The housemates have to assume and maintain characters
which are part of a downtown Blues Club, which they also have to create. They
must stick to their characters throughout the day, no matter what.
After getting used to their new characters, the housemates had to entertain Big
Brother on Tuesday night with musical
entertainment, drinks, dancing and ‘appropriate’ club behaviour. The housemates
also have to get to know the different characters and learn their secrets.
The
characters, given to each of the housemates by Big Brother, are:
· King Vinnie (Kevin): Ruthless
Jazz Club Owner, married to Mrs Vinnie.
· Mrs. Vinnie aka Nikki (Nkenna):
Cold-hearted and married to Vinnie for his money.
· Betty Bee-bopp (Emma): Sexy jazz
vocalist with big dreams of becoming a superstar.
· Alburta Malahyde (Mzamo):
Dodgy music agent, cigar smoking-gambling addict.
· Willie “Old Shoes” Smith
(Edward): sweet, sober janitor employed in the Club and calls everyone “sir” or
“madam”.
· Toots Jaxon (Itai): Charming Saxophone
player and ex-convict on parole, who’s being seduced by Mrs. Vinnie and most ladies.
· Donald “Dice” De Lancey (Leonel):
Brazilian-born chef who’s a bad cook and hates Mr. Vinnie because he’s always
criticizing his food.
· Scarlet (Geraldine): Lady of the
night - no man is safe when she’s around, and no one knows about her two
children.
Another character, Ms Soprano (the lead singer), will join the housemates on Wednesday.
The housemates were so excited by the task that they again bet 100% of their
Sha-Shas on their success.
In his diary session Itai told Big Brother that he was not surprised when the
nomination results were announced on Monday after Itai
and Leonel were announced as the nominees for eviction this week. Itai told Big
Brother that he doubted that Edward would save him, because “..that would be one
too many lucky saves”. Itai has been saved twice before – once when as HoH he
saved himself and again by former Comrade in Arms Nkenna. What Itai doesn’t know
is that Edward has saved him and put Kevin in his place.
The housemates seem to be enjoying playing characters and warmed to the task
quickly. During their diary sessions, they demonstrated to Big Brother how
seriously they take their characters. Emma plays the sexy vocalist at the Blues Revolution Club
and has aspirations of being a mega superstar. She has tried her best to play
her character Betty Bee-bopp, but occasionally forgets whether she’s Emma or
Betty.
Geraldine plays Scarlet, a lady of the night and was quick to correct Biggie
when Biggie greeted her as Geraldine. Itai, who’s also quite diligent in his
role as Toots, told Big Brother that he really likes the character. Kevin said
his character is a perfect fit for his personality. Talking to Big Brother in
his character's voice, Kevin also said he likes his wife Nikki, played by Nkenna
even though she laughs at the way he speaks.
