Black Stars midfielder, Andre Dede Ayew, will spearhead a star-studded Black Satellites side when they take centre stage with their Angolan counterparts in a thrilling 'Rwanda 2009' Africa Youth Championship first round qualifier at the Ohene Djan Stadium on Sunday.

This first leg clash between the two old foes brings fond memories of the Ethiopia 2001 Africa Youth Championship final in Addis Ababa which the southern Africans won 2-0 to lift the Ydnekatchew Tessema trophy.

However, Skipper Dede Ayew and his determined bunch of foreign-based and local blend have sworn to make amends by giving Ghanaians another treat exactly a week after the Black Stars exacted a sweet revenge over Gabon at the same venue.

The good news is that the Olympique Marseilles star has fully recovered from a recent injury and looks set to inspire his compatriots to book a place for the January 18-February 1, 2009 competition in Rwanda after two consecutive misses by Ghana at Benin 2005 and Congo 2007.

Apart from Ayew, the Satellites, who will be supervised by head coach Sellas Tetteh and his assistant, Orlando, have talent in-depth, with former Black Starlets players like Ishmael Yartey of Benfica fame, Daniel Opare (Real Madrid), Sadick Adams (Atletico Madrid), Enoch Adu Kofi (Nice), Isaac Donkor (Hasaacas), goal poacher Ransford Osei (Kessben FC), Paul Addo (Fair Point), and goalkeeper Joseph Addo (Hasaacas) all in camp at Dodowa ready for battle.

The foreign-based players stormed camp last week alongside former Liberty Professionals' offensive midfielder, Rabiu Mohammed, who now plies his trade with Italian Serie A side Udinese.

As if that is not enough, the team is expected to be beefed up this week by two Black Stars discoveries, David Nii Addy and Agyemang Badu of Wa All Stars and Berekum Arsenal respectively.

As Sellas Tetteh rejoins the team, his main duty will be to strategise for the Angolans on Sunday since a chunk of the players were in his team which placed fourth at last year’s U-17 World Cup in China.

In case they scale the Angolan hurdle over two-legs, the Satellites will have one more bridge to cross in their bid to secure a third Africa triumph for Ghana.

Nigeria have won the championship five times, followed by Egypt who have a treble record to their credit as against Ghana’s two in 1993 and 1999.
